Last weekend I took a workshop with Aadil Palkhivala. Wow. That’s what I can say about it. It opened my eyes to experiences my asana practice in a unique way and integrating more depth to living my life on the path of yoga.
There were so many things that resonated with me and that I felt so connected with – mostly many of his sayings and quotes. He said that clarity of dharma (or what we are here in this body to do) brings the freedom of choice. The choices we make are divided into two categories: that which leads us toward the light (or toward our intended path) and that which is driven by the ego. It’s clear to see which choice is possibly the best to make!
He shared a quote from Oscar Wilde: “most people are other people.” This really got me thinking about getting in touch with who I really am – without comparing myself to others….really getting to know my heart and what my goals are. My life is in a bit of pre-transition at the moment and I am loving embracing this ideas as I contemplate the future. This is bringing so much awareness and sensitivity to the way I move through my day.
One other thought – I’ve been mindful lately of how often I use words like “just” or “trying” in my communication and wow – I use them WAY more than I thought! If you think about it those words really downplay what we are saying. ”Oh, I just wanted to know”…..or “I am trying to do”…instead of “I want to know” or “I am doing.” I encourage you to notice when you use those words (I’ve even done it a few times while writing this post) and explore the clarity you may get when you remove them.
Cheers!
